My Daily Haiku #12

Winter Warmers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
feed the birds
they will tweet to ask
keeps them warm
~~~
robin singing loud
winters building at a pace
be calm do not race
~~~
jackdaws jacking loud
carrion crows shouting too
cannibals the pair
~~
house sparrows my friend’s
gregarious fly in flocks
no table manners
~~~
stock up well stay warm
warning winters getting fierce
insulate that loft
~~~
hot toddies cool drink
keep the winter cold at bay
snug the hedgehog sleeps
    The two hedgehogs here come out at night, catch them feeding when washing up, the light goes on outside but they still feed.
      Like this month? Should be tucked up, waiting for warmer days.
    Yes they were there Christmas, they hurry along by the Bird table which is outside the kitchen window and I have a light outside above the Kitchen window so it comes on, they go sniffing out the food. They actually live under the Terrace floor. When Daisy goes out they don’t even move from her, she ignores them.
      Interesting, for as I am sure you will be aware that they should be all wrapped up snug and asleep but, obviously they have found conditions that support them. Nature cofounds us again. As for dogs, a spiked nose, definitely says leave me alone. Not that it will ever effect you or Daisy but hedgehogs are normally infested with flea’s, sure as I can be, its a species only found on these prickly characters. Lets me know if and, you see them again.
